Analyzing Peer Interactions in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning: Model, Method and Tool

چکیده
One of the most important facets in CSCL research is the interaction between individual and collaborative learning activities. This paper proposes a holistic and complementary analysis model of the collaborative interactions base on three dimensions – process pattern, social relationship and topic space. By making use of content analysis, social network analysis and text mining technologies, asynchronous discussion transcripts are semi-automatically processed to address the questions concerned with peer interactions in collaborative learning: what are they talking about, who are talking to whom, and how do they talking with others. An integrated tool with comprehensive functionalities is designed and implemented to support collaborative interaction analysis with intelligence and visualization features. With the assistance of the tool, a case study is conducted to analyze the discussion records of a class composed of 18 graduate students who enrolled in a course along with online discussion in knowledge forum platform.

DisTriB: Distributed Trust Management Model Based on Gossip Learning and Bayesian Networks in Collaborative Computing Systems
The interactions among peers in Peer-to-Peer systems as a distributed collaborative system are based on asynchronous and unreliable communications. Trust is an essential and facilitating component in these interactions specially in such uncertain environments. Various attacks are possible due to large-scale nature and openness of these systems that affects the trust. Peers has not enough inform...

متن کاملTask Complexity Manipulation and EFL learners’ interactions in the process of collaborative pre-planning
Today, learners’ interaction and collaborative task performance have attracted increasing attention from language teachers and researchers. The present study investigated whether collaborative pre-planning, task complexity manipulation, and language proficiency level play a role in learners’ interactions. To this end, 128 EFL learners from two different language proficiency levels carried out t...
متن کاملIncorporating Learning Styles in a Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning Model
Collaborative learning enables individual learners to combine their own expertise, experience and ability to accomplish a mutual learning goal. The grouping of learners, and learning from social interactions with peer-learners, are two basic characteristics of collaborative learning. For individual learners to benefit from collaborative learning, individual learners with different characteristi...
